"This was an experiment in geometry for me - something I left behind in the third grade. I had gone to an incredible musical slide show of the best of Tui de Roy and Mark Jones's thirty years of photographing our natural surroundings around the globe.
I was so enthused by the stark contrasts of line and colour of their Antarctic slides that, the very next day - despite having three other quilts on the go - I simply had to sort through my fabrics just to see if I had any that would work to recreate the view that I was maintaining in my mind's eye from the night before.
I depend on the fabrics in my "stash" as I live 90 km (54 miles) over a small mountain range from the nearest competent fabric store". LIZA EASTMAN |
